It’s late afternoon, and like most people, it’s time for a pick me up. Whether its a snack, a jog, or coffee, whatever your help may be…it’s time. On this afternoon I’ve decided to welcome the sleepiness. I feels like it’s God’s way of quieting down my soul. Maybe it’s the sun coming into the office, or maybe it’s the constant sound of cars that drive by that are reminiscent of waves crashing on the sand. Whatever it is… I welcome it.
Often our lives get so busy, that we don’t know how to welcome the quietness. We forget to “Be Still and Know..”Ps. 46:10 We forget to hear His voice, see His hand, and welcome His Spirit.
Why is it that Jesus, after ministry, always found it necessary to get away? To be alone..to quiet down his soul? I believe it’s for this very reason. He knew that He needed to be refreshed with His Lord, He needed to sit at His fathers feet.
The danger in our culture will always be time. Who gets our time? What gets our attention? Have we become such a culture that is always engaged that we don’t know what to do with silence? Why has silence become uncomfortable?
I want to encourage you, to get away from your busy schedule and be with God. Take a walk look at His creation and give Him praise as you understand who you are in light of our Creator. Praise the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me bless His Holy Name.
