Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”- Matthew 11:28-30
When we begin to release what we hold onto, God is so faithful in rest. The idea of letting go, can be scary, partly because you don’t know what the future holds…but why would you want to be in controll? If I knew exactly how my life was going to turn out, what’s the adventure in that? Seriously that would be so boring…so then why do we try to do it on own, knowing that God really knows best? Isn’t that the definition of insanity? I’ve heard it said before that insanity could be defined as: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
Whether its waiting and wanting a relationship to change, getting rid of an addiction, letting go of your old life, why does it often take us a little bit of insanity for us to realize we really want God to control it? I don’t know, but I’ll tell you I’m tired of it. So this time around I’ve purposed not to do the same thing over and over again. I gave my emotional burden to God, and Oh MY Word, HE is NOT a liar and His faithfulness is assuring. Rest came almost immediately. WoW!!! I’m overwhelmed with His love for me.*His yoke is easy and burdens are light…
I think that’s an interesting line as well* Yoke assumes that work will still be done. A yoke is a wooden beam which is used between a pair of oxen to allow them to pull a load (oxen almost always work in pairs)..Life won’t be a vacation, ministry for that matter won’t be a breeze, but when we lay it at his feet, He takes the weight of that yoke, and we learn from Him what ministry can really look like. God is with us, and in Him, and through Him all things are possible. God’s given us so much through His Holy Spirit. He’s willing and wanting to teach us every moment of the day, through the little things.
Exodus 34:14 Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
Jealous- he wants all of me.. No man, No thing can come before Him. No idol, no ideal, no activity is to come before Him. That’ so cool!
Deuteronomy 4:24
For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
He will judge and see if there is anything in our lives that takes attention away from Him and take it away. But if we hold onto it, grip onto it, the pain continues longer than it needs to. After all His yoke is easy, His burden is light, and He will give you rest.
So I’m done… Not going to live a life of insanity anymore! Praise be the Lord, for He is worthy of all praise. Praise be to Him, because in Him and through Him is life!
So live. :)
Proverbs 3:4,5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
