Todd Agnew sings this song called “Funny” it actually has some pretty funny lyrics, but there is a lot of truth in it. How is it that all creation obeys God, and yet we have a difficult obeying God in the smallest things that he asks of us? Especially when we know that following God and obeying Him is really what we want. IN that obedience one begins to step into the courts of the Lord. Obedience leads to the presence of the Lord. Disobedience therefore would separate us from the Lord.
Psalms 84:1-4 NLT
1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
2 I long, yes, I faint with longing
to enter the courts of the Lord.
With my whole being, body and soul,
I will shout joyfully to the living God.
3 Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow builds her nest and raises her young
at a place near your altar,
O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, my King and my God!
4 What joy for those who can live in your house,
always singing your praises.
I want that! To live in the dwelling place of the Lord. Often I find myself going going going that I forget to check in with the Lord. I was driving to church on Sunday, praying about services, and Kids church and it hit me… a really sad reality…When was the last time I just talked to God? Not requesting, not searching, just talking, as daughter and father… It had been days!!! Right then and there I stopped praying and began to talk to Him. Thanking Him and just glorifying Him for all that He is.
My vacation has been refreshing. I’ve been able to take a break from life, and enjoy those things that are truly important. Those things that rejuvinate me! Creation and My Creator!
Really those are the things that I need to be refreshed, but I realize I can’t just stay there. I also need community. God has created us to be with His people and to love each other… and therefore after this short time in the wilderness, I’m beginning to feel rejuvenated. I’m getting excited about the possibilities of ministry.
Last night I had a quick conversation with my boyfriend and he was sharing his excitement about small groups. His excitement got me pumped about ministry. I found myself being encouraged, motivated and joyful about working together for the glory of the Lord. Passion is contagious. Joy is contagious! That’s why the body is important.
So today, choose to encourage those around you in the Lord! Choose to give your day to Him. Choose to live passionately alive and joyfully free; and in doing this you will liberate others to follow Christ. Now Go DO SOMETHING :)
